About The Project

How It Works

LING works with school-going girls to transcend literacy, numeracy, poverty and social justice. We do this by creating environments that produce exceptional young women who drive change in their communities. We use Lexplore's innovative rapid reading assessment, powered by eye tracking and artificial intelligence to get a clear view of a student's reading challenges and then work with the student to increase literacy and skills in numeracy. We also use various STEM resources (Tehnology) to stimulate the learning of STEM. Thus, creating environments that produce exceptional young women who drive change in their communities. We build self-esteem, provide access to resources and produce academic high achievers. This project will provide education for school-going girls on how to read and comprehend text so they can match their male counterparts in class. We also build their confidence in STEM. In addition the project will provide training for girls who have had to leave school, campaign for indiscriminate school absenteeism, mentoring services support, and hands-on learning opportunities for girls.

Challenges

In the region where LING is based, careful research was conducted on factors that contribute to high attrition rate of girls in school, perception of females in education, absenteeism, early pregnancy, arranged marriages which elevate their HIV risk, illness, poverty, and gender-based violence. Girls who do complete school often do so with very low grades and cannot go to college/universities. It is very hard for a girl to thrive well in these communities. They need a safe and healthy environment to thrive.

A Solution

LING provides education support through Literacy, STEM and virtual collaborations for schools, training of selected teachers to give additional teaching services to girls who are deemed vulnerable in partnered schools, conducting a radio/tv campaign for parents to appreciate girls relevance in the development of their communities. We also provide the best resources that schools can offer to girls who thought they would never make it to high school and, as a result, they transform into academic stars who avoid HIV/AIDS and early pregnancy while leading incredible initiatives for change in their community.

Long Term Impact

Literacy and STEM impact measurements will improve when it comes to girls on LING beneficiaries. Also, by keeping girls in school we will reduce child pregnancy, marriage, and HIV risk. As educated women, LING alumni will have healthier children and serve as ambassadors to upcoming girls. LING alumni will become change makers by joining the campaign force to share their testimonies. More girls will graduate from primary and secondary school and be college/university material. Students and teachers will be digitally literate and gain 21st Century skills for the market place.
